 The Guardian The Iranian woman whose sentence of death by stoning was commuted to hanging after an international campaign, today sent a message from inside Tabriz prison calling for further support so that she might be reunited with her children.Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother of two, said she thinks of nothing other than hugging her children and that she was mentally broken when authorities flogged her 99 times in front of her then 17-year-old son, Sajad. |

 Relatives of political prisoners in Iran have launched a sit-in and protest in front of Tehran’s prosecutor’s office. They have gathered on 15 Khordad Square, holding pictures of their imprisoned loved ones.The families are protesting the inhumane treatment of the prisoners, some of whom have been transferred to solitary confinement, while others are on hunger strike. |

 Iranian regime has sent a harsh message to Shi’ite allies in Iraq, demanding they support the candidacy of Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, the Arab daily A-Sharq Al-Awsat has reported. According to the report, based on an anonymous source in the Islamist Iraqi National Alliance (INA) led by Sayyed Ammar Al-Hakim, the Iranian regime message directed their Shi’ite partners in Iraq to accept Al-Maliki’s candidacy “even if he hit you over the head.” |

 Sixteen prisoners at Tehran’s notorious Evin prison have been transferred to solitary confinement after protesting to the restrictions and inhumane conditions of Ward 350, Daneshjou News reported on Wednesday. The 16 inmates launched a hunger strike after being transferred to solitary confinement and have declared that they will not cease their strike unless their demands are fulfilled. Majid Tavakkoli and Kouhiar Goudarzi are among the strikers. |
