 AFP - July 31 - About 150 people gathered Saturday in Paris to honor victims of repression in Iran in 1988 and those of clashes in Camp Ashraf in Iraq in 2009, a member of the Iranian opposition in exile told an AFP journalist over the telephone.The protesters waved Iranian flags and banners in violet, as well as portraits of Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). |

 Sixteen prisoners at Tehran’s notorious Evin prison have been transferred to solitary confinement after protesting to the restrictions and inhumane conditions of Ward 350, Daneshjou News reported on Wednesday. The 16 inmates launched a hunger strike after being transferred to solitary confinement and have declared that they will not cease their strike unless their demands are fulfilled. Majid Tavakkoli and Kouhiar Goudarzi are among the strikers. |

 CNN -- A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit southern Iran on Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said, a day after another moderate quake in the country's northeast left 170 people injured.There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from Saturday's earthquake that struck about 60 miles (95 kilometers) south of Kerman, the USGS said. |
