Newsweek - Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani has been imprisoned in Tabriz Prison in northwestern Iran since 2005, having suffered 99 lashes and been condemned to die by public stoning for her alleged adultery. Until last month, those facts were known only to a small handful of people working quietly through the Iranian legal system to secure her release. Now, with Ashtiani’s story filling the pages of newspapers and Web sites around the world, her name, and the appalling details of her case, are familiar.

According to the intelligence obtained from inside the terrorist Qods Force of the Iranian regime, Nouri al-Maliki, whose dream of renewing his post as Iraq’s Prime Minister appears to have been lost, is now trying to convince the Iranian regime to pressure the National Iraqi Alliance (a Shiite block backed by Tehran) to accept his premiership and in return he would step up plans to further suppress Ashraf residents. This is while there are some activities under way within Iraq and in the region to form a new Iraqi government. |

In yet another suppressive and inhumane measure, on the orders of the Iraqi committee at the Prime Minister’s Office in charge of suppressing Ashraf, Iraqi forces compelled a person accompanying one of the female patients from Ashraf, to leave special care unit at a hospital in Baghdad. |

Three men were hanged Sunday in a prison in the city of Kerman, south-eastern Iran, according to an announcement on the website of the judiciary in Kerman Province. A fourth man was reportedly hanged in public in Khuzestan Province on Monday.
