| NGOs seek UN protection for Iranian group in Iraq |

Several leading NGOs urged the United Nations on Thursday to protect Ashraf. The NGOs, including France Liberté, set up by France’s former First Lady Danielle Mitterrand, and the Movement Against Racism (MRAP), delivered a statement to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on the humanitarian situation in Camp Ashraf. They urged the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq to increase its mandate over Ashraf to provide a protective force. |

 The former Prime Minister of Algeria, Sid Ahmad Ghozali, who also chairs the Arab-Islamic Committee in Defense of Ashraf, sent a message to the residents of Camp Ashraf, praising their perseverance in the face of last year’s attacks by the Iranian regime’s agents.Camp Ashraf, Iraq, is home to over 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition, (PMOI/MEK). |
